Michigan Has 4 Seasons, But Some Seem To Last Longer Than Others

Summer in Michigan is winding down and cooler weather is on it's way.

I don't know about you, but I'm not ready for summer to end because it seems like it just started! So how long does each season actually last here in West Michigan? Each season is supposed to last for 3 months according to the calendar, but here that's not always the case.

Let's start with summer since it's slowly coming to an end. According to the calendar summer last's from June 21 to September 22. So officially, we are supposed to get three months of summer. With the ever-changing weather in Michigan, we can roughly see 4 full months of decently warm weather.

Next up will be autumn, which officially starts September 22 and goes through December 20th. Another 3 months according to the calendar, but again that doesn't mean it can't snow as early as September. I love fall here but sometimes it only seems to last 2 months.

Winter is the season that seems to last the longest here in Michigan. The calendar has winter starting December 21 and going through March 19. However I've seen the snow and cold last far into the month of April.

Spring is the season that starts on March 20 and goes through June 20. Again here in Michigan spring doesn't seem to last more than about 2 months. April showers are supposed to bring May flowers but sometimes it's snow!

If I had to pick 2 of my favorite seasons in Michigan it would definitely be summer and fall.
