Have you heard of Quasimodo? He may have a short spine, but he has a big heart, and he is looking for a home.

With coverage from Buzzfeed, CNN and others, the "short spine" German Shepherd Quasimodo is stealing hearts all over the nation. Quasi is one of 13 dogs in the US that are known to have this short spine syndrome condition that gives them a shortened torso and appearance of a hunch back. In short, this means they are missing vertebrae, and while a dog can be fully functional with this condition, it leads to other issues in their health.

German Shepherd lovers and and special need dog lovers alike have united behind Quasi and are following his story on the Facebook Page For Quasi The Great. Many people are showing their support and staying up to date on his steps toward health. Inquiries about when he will go to his forever home were answered by Second Hand Hounds, a rescue agency that took Quasi in and are championing his road to recovery and a full life, noted on Quasi's Facebook page:

Quasi is not currently available for adoption. We ensure that all of our dogs are healthy and have their temperament evaluated before adoption. Quasi is currently hanging out getting all the love and care in a foster home.

We're pulling for you Quasi and can't wait to see what lucky family gets to take you home!

We know dogs make a huge impact on our lives, and our SW Michigan community is full of dog lovers too! If you're a German Shepherd owner in the Kalamazoo area, did you know there is a Kzoo German Shepherd Group on Facebook? They are growing their presence in the community and will be present at the St Patty's Day Parade this weekend as a group to show Kalamazoo how much they love their breed! Do you have a German Shepherd? We want to see photos of them, share them in the comments!
