It's that bitter time of year where the weather is about to get super cold, being in the middle of winter and all, and Downtown Kalamazoo is gearing up for its first major event of 2021, the annual Downtown Kalamazoo Chili Cook-off. The date for the event is slated for Saturday, February 27th from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. This will be there 15th year holding the annual event and organizers are excited to bring Kalamazoo together in a safe manner for some warm fun. Their event page lists the available details of the event:

Downtown Kalamazoo’s Annual Chili Cook-Off is a community event and is how we’ve stayed warm on a cold Saturday for the past 15 years. The Kalamazoo Downtown Partnership is working with community partners, downtown businesses, and health officials to provide a safe and enjoyable outdoor experience that meets COVID guidelines. The event will be updated with information, so make sure to check the event page often.
It's been a tough start to the year, with Louie's annual Gumbo Cook-off being postponed in order to keep people safe, there aren't many other options to get a belly of warm food while enjoying the winter weather in Downtown Kalamazoo. Hopefully they stay on track to allow us to gather in a socially distanced manner and enjoy some amazing chili made here in Kalamazoo.
