The more time I spend in this city the more I'm starting to realize like all great cities, it's full of history. I myself am kind of a history nerd as it is so when I discovered there is a movie on the origin of Kalamazoo, I know I had to put it on the top of my watch list. The movie was put together in 2009 to celebrate the cities' 125th Birthday.

With the help of Irving S. Gilmore Foundation and the Kalamazoo Historic Preservation Commission, the movie features music from the Kalamazoo Symphony Orchestra, as well as pictures to go along with it given by the Kalamazoo Valley Museum, the Kalamazoo Public Library's Local History Room and the Western Michigan University Archives and Regional History Collection.

The man who put it together was John Urschel and with the help of the Kalamazoo Public Library, they were able to digitize and upload the film to youtube. If you've never seen it before, take some time for yourself and enjoy this awesome film about the true origin of Kzoo.
