Indiana Man Stole an Ambulance and Drove it to Walmart
It's like the Walmart version of a red light special. Where my K-Mart people at?
Think about all of the times you stop at Speedway to grab a fountain drink and see a police cruiser or ambulance unattended while it's running. It never entered my mind that I could just jump into one of those emergency vehicles and take off. After seeing this story, it still won't enter my mind. Because...why?
48-year-old Jason Wolf Thibeault of Valparaiso, Indiana apparently disagrees. Around 9:30 P.M last Tuesday Thibeault allegedly hopped in an empty rescue vehicle that was parked at a Family Express gas station in Portage according to NWI.com,
The man fled the scene in the ambulance heading west on U.S. 6 and drove it to the area of the Walmart parking lot at 6807 U.S. 6 in Portage.
The Porter County Sheriff's Department were able locate the stolen medical bus with-in ten minutes of the theft. They found the Tri-County Ambulance in the Walmart parking lot on U.S. 6.
With the help of witnesses, local law enforcement was able to locate and identify the man they believe stole the ambulance. They found him hanging around a closed BBQ restaurant. He was then detained and charged with felony auto theft.
None was injured and the ambulance was returned to Tri-County Ambulance Services unharmed. The reason why this man allegedly stole and ambulance and then left it at Walmart is currently unknown.
