A 45-year-old man allegedly protested the "communist takeover of America" while intoxicated in the middle of an intersection.

This happened in a small Indiana town called Winona Lake.  Ironically, just 5 minutes from Warsaw, Indiana.  I say ironically because of the formerly communist Warsaw, Poland.  I digress.

The police just filed report with the county court this week about a man by the name of Kelvin Joe Wadkins who was arrested and jailed in the early morning hours of Sunday, December 13, 2020.  The reason for the arrest is almost as strange as the time of day that it happened.  Law enforcement arrived on the scene at 3:37 A.M. as Wadkins allegedly parked in an intersection, shouted about communism while drinking beer.  The best part is that he was filming himself during the one man, early morning protest.  Yes, the suspect told police he was protesting according to Times Union Online,

He was protesting and making a statement against the communist takeover of America and had on purpose stopped in the middle of the intersection.  Wadkins further went on and made a statement against “the communist takeover of America” and “the United States Supreme Court’s ruling there was no law of the land and the Constitution being null and void.”

When police asked Wadkins to step out of the vehicle, he rolled is driver side window up, but at the same time he accidentally rolled his back window down.  That might have something to do with the Miller Lite between his legs.

Police then unlocked the door through the back window and pulled the suspect out of the vehicle.  Once law enforcement had the suspect under control and in custody they took him to the hospital for a blood draw.  Wadkins blood alcohol level was 0.188%.  That's over double the legal limit in Indiana of 0.08%.

According to the police report obtained by Time Union Online Kelvin faces the following charges:

  • Operating a vehicle while intoxicated, a Class A misdemeanor
  • Obstructing vehicular traffic, a Class B misdemeanor
  • Resisting law enforcement, a Class A misdemeanor

I wonder if he knows the guy in Indiana that was found passed out and naked on a tractor?  I don't know naked tractor guy's political beliefs, but I think both of these guys need drinking buddies.
