Indiana Driver Denies Being Drunk, Tested 5 Times The Legal Limit
You probably shouldn't drive at speeds twice as fast as the speed limit. Especially when you're completely hammered.
Early Saturday morning a 47-year-old man allegedly flew by a patrol car at 70 MPH in a 35 MPH zone. Not sure why anyone in Indiana would be in a hurry at 12:25 A.M., but he clearly has somewhere to be.
Once law enforcement pulled the speeding gray Infiniti over he allegedly made the following key discoveries:
- The driver smelled like alcohol.
- His speech was slurred.
- Last but not least, his name was Jessie James.
When you're driving twice the speed limit, wreak of alcohol and your speech is so slurred that the officer can't understand you. You're going to have a hard time talking your way out of trouble. That didn't stop Jessie James. I mean, he is an infamous outlaw from the 1800's after all. Mr. James denied being intoxicated according to NWItimes.com,
James was taken to a hospital for a blood draw, which showed a BAC of 0.41, or more than five times the legal limit of 0.08, police said.
The suspect not only claimed that he wasn't drunk but he would be dead if his blood alcohol level was that high. James was charged with a felony count of driving while intoxicated with a prior conviction and drunken driving charges. No word on why he was in such a hurry. Maybe he was running from Robert Ford. OK, I'll stop with the Outlaw Jesse James references.
