A child pornography investigation is believed to be related to the resignation of a school board member at Battle Creek Public Schools. The Battle Creek Enquirer reports that 54-year-old Eric Jankowski resigned earlier this week by email to the school board president, citing personal reasons. That email was sent on Tuesday, the same day authorities searched Jankowski’s home on N. 32nd Street in Springfield.

Michigan State Police investigators with the Computer Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Calhoun County Sheriff's office, say the warrant was issued on November 29th. In it, they sought evidence of crimes related to the possession and distribution of child sexually abusive material. There is no word on what, if any, evidence was found inside the home.

Jankowski was elected to the Battle Creek Public School board for a six-year term in 2017. The school district is currently working on procedures to fill the now vacant seat on the school board.
