Thursday night you can sing along and dance to Pharrell Williams' 'Happy.' We play it on the radio, you sing along-  we'll all get through this together.

The KZoo Jam & Sing Facebook group has grown to over 1,700 members, proving the power of music and togetherness. Every Thursday night at 7 o'clock, we've been playing a song on the radio and people have been going out onto their porches and into the yard to sing along and dance. It is a few minutes of release during what can be difficult times. This week's song is perfect for this and guaranteed to make you smile: "Happy" by Pharrell Williams.

Huh, because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like a room without a roof
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like happiness is the truth
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you know what happiness is to you
Because I'm happy
Clap along if you feel like that's what you wanna do

Did you know there might be a Michigan connection? When asked about the "room without a roof" on Twitter, Pharrell said it is "metaphorical for one's space w/out limit." I like to think he is making a literal reference to Hitsville USA. The famous Motown studio is located in the basement at 2648 W. Grand Blvd. in Detroit. There is a square hole cut in the ceiling of the studio, which is the floor of the main level. Another identical cutout is in the ceiling of the first floor, going all the way to the roof of the structure. The hollow space creates an echo chamber that no other studio could replicate, making it a unique part of the Motown sound of young America.

You don't need to know all that to crank up the song and sing along as we play it on the radio for you this Thursday night at 7.
