Beckman was fired after an internal investigation revealed players were encouraged to delay or not report injuries, and several other issues.

Cubit has received positive marks since joining the Illini as Associate Head Coach and Offensive Coordinator in 2013. BleacherReport.com referred to Cubit the most valuable assistant in the Big Ten.
