Did you have a teddy bear or stuffed animal as a child that you wished with all your might would come to life? Good news! I met a real-life teddy bear today that could be yours.

This is Dallas. Dallas is a 10-week-old puppy who was brought in to the SPCA of SW Michigan along with his littermates. While Dallas was a curious puppy who excitedly wagged his tail every time you looked at him, he was incredibly calm. There were no noises, no overexcited scratching...he was just relaxed. Even when held up...he just hung out. Literally:

Dallas, who weighs just a few pounds, isn't ready to be adopted just yet. But, he'll be ready for his new home starting next week. And, as mentioned above, he is just one in a whole litter of puppies all of which will need new homes.

If you're interested in adopting Dallas or any of his siblings, just contact the SPCA of SW Michigan here or stop by during their regular hours at 6955 W Kl Ave in Kalamazoo.

A Desperate Need for Foster Homes

Today, Katie stressed just how vital foster homes are and how much they are needed right now. We are on the cusp of puppy and kitten season meaning the SPCA will be overloaded with animals. In fact, they're experiencing a high influx of animals that hasn't seemed to slow down through the pandemic.

With fostering, the SPCA of SW Michigan provides all food and all medications if they're needed. All you'll need to do is provide a safe space for these puppies, kittens, and senior animals that could use some space from the shelter. That and play with puppies! What could be better than that?

Fostering absolutely saves animal lives. Not everyone is in a place where they can adopt but, with fostering, you're not only providing a temporary place where these animals can relax but you're also helping them socialize. It makes a huge difference. If you'd like to foster, find all the information and applications here.

We feature a new dog or cat from the SPCA of SW Michigan every Thursday for Dog Days. Join us next week at 7:35 for the newest four-legged friend that needs a forever home!
