Back in 2019, the freshly remodeled building that sits at Murray & Front St. in Downtown Mattawan transformed into the Bird Dog restaurant that has quickly become a favorite of the village. Even through the pandemic, this small business was able to not only stay afloat, but they've just announced that they'll be expanding with a new restaurant at 200 E Bridge Street Plainwell, MI. The new location will be called 'Dog & The Bank' and will be a completely different restaurant from Bird Dog with a different menu. In an announcement they made recently, they reveled their upcoming plans:

Words out…we’re opening another restaurant, Dog & The Bank, late summer 2021 in downtown Plainwell! We’ve been waiting to officially announce our new restaurant for months! We started the process in February of 2020, it came to a halt in March of 2020 due to the pandemic, then we were able to purchase the building in September 2020 & start construction in January of 2021! It’s been a long haul, lots of unknowns but we are so thankful that we’ve had the most amazing guests to support our dreams!

As of now the Dog & The Bank restaurant doesn't have a Facebook account but they can be followed on Instagram, as they prepare for their opening this summer. The explained the name choice on one of their posts as well.

Why Is It Named Dog & The Bank?

Our little building was the “First Bank of Plainwell” back in the late 1800’s. We wanted to incorporate what the building used to be with what the building will become. Little bit of old school with a little bit of new school while also including what started it all (Bird Dog)!
