A raid was conducted on a home in Kalamazoo County yesterday, potentially putting a stop to what authorities say was a burgeoning heroin operation.

MLive reports that officers from the Kalamazoo Valley Enforcement Team went to a residence in the 200 block of East North St. on Thursday, after investigating tips that Detroit gang members were working on a heroin distribution network.

KVET says that drug rings often attempt to set up shop in Kalamazoo, because it’s halfway between Detroit and Chicago.

Inside the house, authorities found five men, four from Detroit, along with packaged heroin, marijuana, ammunition and a large amount of cash.

A 25-year-old Kalamazoo man and a 27-year-old Detroit man were arrested on charges of manufacturing and delivering heroin, with the Detroit man also facing charges of felon in possession of ammunition and maintaining a drug house.
