Clean Getaway Laundromat On W. KL & Drake In Kalamazoo Closing

A staple of the Arcadia/ Oshtemo/ Knollwood neighborhoods and a go-to laundromat in Kalamazoo is closing its doors. Clean Getaway Laundromat On W. KL & Drake posted a picture on their door announcing that effective April 5th, they'll no longer be in business. The sign reads:

To our valued customers, this Clean getaway laundry location has been sold and will be permanently closed April 5th, 2021. We appreciate your loyalty to our business throughout the many years.
Thank you, Clean Getaway Staff & Management.

This is just one of the many closures we've seen recently and now Kalamazoo wiil unfortunately lose another place to do laundry. One resident was worried for the Cork Street laundromat, and urged people to take their clothes there after hearing the owner fell on hard times as well, saying:

If y’all need to wash your winter clothes I highly recommend you give this nice lady your business. If we don’t support locally owned businesses at some point all that will be left is Walmart or Amazon laundry at a monthly charge.

Currently there are over a dozen between Kalamazoo and Portage, with the number dropping starting April 5th. There are fewer options on the East side of Kalamazoo however.

Clean getaway is actually in the middle of a triangle of laundromats, with Paris Cleaners & Laundry, Stadium Discount Coin Laundry, and Sheldon Cleaners all nearby as the closest options after the closure.
