Not sure if this is good news or bad news, considering how many people have told me they're are freaked out by clowns. Sad to say, but it seems we are facing a NATIONWIDE CLOWN SHORTAGE.  The older generation of clowns is dying out, and a new generation isn't stepping up to take their place. The number of working clowns in the U.S. has dropped from about 3,500 in 2004 to 2,500 now.

The story in the NY Post says the average salary is $38K a year. Hard to get by on that. I have nothing else to add but to remind you of the "Clown's Credo" from a classic episode of 70's TV series, The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

"A little song, a little dance, a little seltzer down your pants."
