Ariana Grande Smashes 1964 Chart Record Held By The Beatles
Ariana Grande is now the first artist to hold the top three spots on the Billboard Hot 100 chart since The Beatles.
The British group held the title in 1964, and were the only artist to achieve it until now. Grande's "7 Rings" holds the No. 1 spot with "Break Up With Your Girlfriend, I'm Bored" and "Thank U, Next" at No. 2 and No. 3 respectively. All three songs are featured on the pop singer's album, "Thank U, Next."
Grande celebrated her accomplishment on Twitter, revealing that her Nonna is the one who made her aware of the record. The singer said she was "so very proud and grateful," before adding a huge shout out to her team.
"nonna just facetimed me and screamed 'ANYTHING ELSE U WANNA DO?' my team made me this and it's pretty so i'm posting it and also i'm so very proud and grateful for everything but i promise i'll shut the f--- up after this. congrats team, i love u. thank u so much," she tweeted.
Grande then added that, "this feels hilarious." She also told her fans how grateful she is for them and how much she loves them.
"love u so much it's unimaginable," she tweeted.
The Beatles held the top three for five weeks in March and April 1964, eventually claiming the whole top five. Grande reached the major Billboard milestone just a week after her album came out. Her single, "7 Rings," has been seated at the No. 1 spot for four straight weeks while "Thank U, Next" dropped to No. 3 after spending seven weeks in the top spot.
Drake is the only artist to ever come close to accomplishing this. In July 2018 he had songs in the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 spot on the Billboard 100 chart. While he hasn't held all three spots in the top three, he does hold the record for having seven simultaneous Hot 100 top 10s.
