National Geographic listed the 25 Happiest Cities in the U.S. and Ann Arbor Michigan made the list!

Ann Arbor Michigan is known for many things...

  • The Big House (the largest Stadium in the U.S.)
  • The Ann Arbor Art Fair
  • Zingerman's Deli

Just to name a few, but now Ann Arbor is known for something else...

For a couple of years I lived just outside the city, and worked in the city. I have to say that National Geographic is NOT wrong!

According to National Geographic, "nearly 250,000 interviews were conducted with adults from 2014 to 2015 in 190 metropolitan areas across the U.S." The criteria was this...

  • Vacation Time
  • Civic Engagment
  • Financial Security
  • Eating Healthy
  • Access To Green Places
  • Progress In Personal Goals
  • Locals Smile And Laugh More Often Then Most

Ann Arbor was the only city that made the list...I find that surprising considering all the amazing cities we have here in South West Michigan. Think about it...

  • Marshall
  • Richland
  • Kalamazoo (of course)
  • South Haven
  • Portage

That just names a few of our FABULOUS cities on this side of the state, let alone nationally !

Over all California had 8 cities that made the list, Virginia had 2, Colorado 2, and Florida had 2 as well. the rest of the states that made the list had only one great city listed.

The Top 5 Happiest Cities are...

  1. Boulder, CO
  2. Santa Cruz-Watsonville, CA
  3. Charlottesville, VA
  4. Fort Collins, CO
  5. San Luis Obispo CA

Growing up in the Mitten state, I think our towns could have completed the entire list (just my opinion)!
