On Monday night members of the Ann Arbor City Council took a knee, and the response is troubling.

More on the nasty response from the public but first the details of the story that has caused so much outrage. On Monday night, at the Ann Arbor city council meeting, 4 council members stepped in front of the council's table, turned towards the American Flag,  and knelt for the Pledge of Allegiance.

Who Took A Knee...

  1. Chip Smith - 5th Ward
  2. Chuck Warpehoski - 5th Ward
  3. Sumi Kailasapathy - 1st Ward

Mr. Warpehoski told Mlive.com that he took a knee because it was...

"An act of attention, concern and respect."

Ms. Kailasapathy explained why she took a knee...

"For me, taking a knee is also showing solidarity with the group of people who have been doing this at the national level"

Mr. Smith and Mr. Frenzel did not comment on their choice to knee during the Pledge of Allegiance.
