14 Yr. Old Kalamazoo Teen Is Published In the New York Times

Jacob Williams made his words known when his article “A is for Annoying" was published by the New York Times.

Most of us can only dream of being a famous singer, actor or writer, but that dream came true for on Michigan teen. Jacob Williams is a seventh grader at Kalamazoo Christian Middle School who wrote an article about always having to be last in line when in the classroom because of his last name. Hence the title for his essay, "A is for Annoying".

Jacob weighed in on the basis of his essay...

“If you also have a last name that begins with a W, X, Y, or Z you understand my struggles. After awhile you get accustomed to always being last.”

Having a last name that falls into the middle of the alphabet I have never had that challenge, I also am not a published writer! Jacob was one of 12 students selected for publication from a field of over 200 submissions and the essay was to be about an unfair aspect of school.
