It's hard to think that there are certain things we aren't able to send through the mail these days in Ohio. We can have virtually anything shipped to our mailboxes and doorsteps. Many of us keep our postal workers busy with what we have delivered to our homes and businesses or when we want to mail a gift to a friend or family member. But, there are some items that you absolutely cannot send or receive through U.S. mail.

Shipping guidelines and restrictions are in place because safety is a prime concern for the USPS. Employee and customer safety is a top priority. If someone gets hurt by an explosive device or poisonous gas, USPS says there are ramifications for those actions:

 “The Postal Service is committed to the safety and security of its employees, its customers, and its transportation networks and will remain vigilant in safeguarding the mail stream against any article that might pose a hazard to health, safety, property, or the environment. Anyone who mails, or causes to be mailed, a nonmailable or improperly packaged hazardous material can be subject to legal penalties."
