That's right! You're guilty! Frankly, all of us are probably guilty because these are easily some of the most ridiculous laws I've ever heard of! As a new resident in the state of Michigan I wanted to make sure I was following the local laws...but I was not expecting this.

According to Michigan Houses Online these are ACTUAL laws in the state of Michigan which I have narrowed down to my favorite 5.

1. Persons may not be drunk on a train

Look...I get it. Being drunk in public is a no-no anyway but come on! One of my first plans when I arrived was taking a train over to Chicago so I didn't have to worry about transportation if I decided to have some drinks with friends. But, Michigan says no.

2. Cars may not be sold on Sundays

Are dealerships closed on Sundays, then? I'm going to assume that this was an old law enacted during a time when people didn't have to work on the Sabbath. But, times have changed!

3. Sticking with the weekend theme - In Detroit, it is illegal for a man to scowl at his wife on Sundays.

But every other day...it's cool.

4. In Kalamazoo it is against the law to serenade your girlfriend.

Is it fair to assume that this is a 'one really terrible singer ruined it for the rest of us' situation? 😂

The last one on my list is easily my favorite and I'm dying to know the story behind it...

5. It is illegal to paint sparrows to sell them as parakeets in Harper Woods

Who? WHO painted a sparrow as a parakeet and tried to sell it? How much were parakeets worth back then??

Again, these are just my favorites. You can see the full list here and see how many you've accidentally broken. You rebel, you.
