WMU In Pilot Facebook Frames Feature

When the Western Michigan University football team faces Middle Tennessee State next week at the Popeye's Bahamas Bowl, fans around the world will have a new way to cheer on the team from afar.

WMU is one of only 33 institutions nationwide to pilot the team frame, a new Facebook feature. Facebook’s team frames offer college sports fans the option to temporarily change their profile pictures to show support for their favorite sports team.

Facebook team frames are still in the beta stage and have largely been reserved for bigger institutions and team fan bases. Efforts by social media, graphic design and marketing staff in the Office of University Relations led to WMU becoming the first school in the Mid-American Conference to have a team frame for its fans.

“Thank you to Facebook and our administration for continuing to innovate. These frames show how we continue to progress in becoming an elite brand on a national level,” says P.J. Fleck, WMU head football coach.

The custom team frame is available on Facebook by visiting the Western Michigan Football page at facebook.com/wmufootball. The Broncos take on Middle Tennessee State at noon Thursday, Dec. 24, in Nassau, Bahamas.
