Why You Need a Real ID in Kalamazoo ASAP

Let's clear up any confusion as the deadline approaches for the 'REAL ID.'

The City of Kalamazoo just posted an important reminder on facebook regarding the October 1st, 2020 deadline for the 'REAL ID.'

Let's take a moment and answer the following questions about the Real ID.

#1.  How do I know if I already have a 'Real ID' or not?  

If your state ID or driver license has a gold circle with a star inside in the top right corner you are good.  That is the 'Real ID' star.

#2.  How do I get a Real ID?

#3.  What is the difference between a 'Real ID' and an 'Enhanced ID?'

Your standard license and/or ID with a star allows you to fly in the U.S., enter federal facilities, nuclear power plants and U.S. military bases.

Your Enhanced license and/or ID will allow you all of the things listed above and includes the ability to re-enter the U.S. by land or sea from Canada, Mexico, Bermuda or the Caribbean.  Very similar to a passport.
