I was petting Stella last night, and felt a tick on her back.  I was trying to wrap my head around exactly how and when she got it but it can happen anytime anywhere.  Remember last ear when I had to remove a tick from my own EAR?!

Ticks live in moist and humid environments, particularly in or near wooded or grassy areas. You may come into contact with ticks during outdoor activities around your home or when walking through leaf litter or near shrubs. Always walk in the center of trails in order to avoid contact with ticks - CDC

I grabbed the tweezers and made sure I grabbed it from the head because they bury their head in the skin.  The tick was still alive when I plucked it off and I flushed it down the toilet. Don't mind my dirty fingernails :P
