Two Men Charged With Felony Voter Suppression in Michigan

Multiple felony voter suppression charges were brought against two conservative operatives Thursday afternoon.

Just 4 and a half weeks before the 2020 Presidential Election, Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel has charged Jacob Wohl and Jack Burkman with four felonies according to Yahoo News,

Prosecutors allege the two political operatives were using a robocall system aimed at scaring Detroit voters away from using mail-in voting ballots. The calls, which were made in August, went out to nearly 12,000 Detroit residents.

So, what's the big deal about annoying robocalls?  The calls were giving false information about mail-in voting.  The calls were making claims that the mail-in ballots were used to track criminals and collect outstanding credit card debt among other wildly false claims.

That appears to be just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Burkman and Wohl.  These charges come less than a week after an FBI investigation was made public.  This is where things get really strange.  The two men allegedly staged a fake FBI raid on Burkman's home for media attention.  The charges are pretty serious according to The Daily Beast,

The FBI investigation centers on Wohl and Burkman’s February release of confidential juror questionnaires from the trial of Trump associate Roger Stone. The FBI is investigating the pair for potential witness harassment, criminal contempt, and obstruction of justice, according to the filing.

Aside from the FBI investigation and the felony charges in Michigan, the two have investigations brewing into other alleged criminal acts in Washington D.C. and Pennsylvania.

This political pair could face up to 7 years in prison for the Michigan charges alone.  Jake and Jack have not yet been arrested at the time this story was published.
