Sworn-in less then a month ago , Pawofficeer Donut is already making a difference.

The newest member to the Troy (Michigan) Police Department is Pawofficer Donut and he is already making a huge difference in the community.

On Sunday June 10th, Pawofficer Donut will be providing back-up for the Michigan Humane Society's "Kitten Shower" from Noon to 3 pm. the event is happening at Berman Center for Animal Care in Westland.

If you are like me, I have never heard of a "Kitten Shower", but after some research I discovered that is very similar to a human baby shower; there will crafts, food and games. Plus, you can meet the new born kittens from the shelter, and of course Pawoffer Donut!

Shaun Bailey from the Michigan Humane Society (MHS) told Mlive.com that...

Every spring, MHS  must prepare for newborn kittens, many of them orphans. People surrender so many kittens, that the nonprofit needs the community's help. These kittens' lives depend on foster caregivers. These caregivers, in turn, need supplies and training. The supplies needed include blankets, food dishes, formula, heating pads, kennels, syringes and more.

Anyone can purchase items from the kitten registry at MichiganHuman.org/KittenRegistry. Of course the need for donations to any shelters is year-round, but with this donation you can adopt a kitten for free. They are also looking for volunteers and that would a great opportunity for any cat lover to see how they can help.

I know Troy is tad down the road from us, but we do have the amazing SPCA of Southwest Michigan right here in our backyard, and the SPCA can always use some help and donations!
