This year Record Store Day is going to be a little different. Because of the pandemic, a huge issue came up when thinking of Record Store Day, as usually hundreds of people line up in anticipation to grab a rare album made only for the specific day. This year however in preparation, organizers weren't sure what the situation would be in terms of our safety, so they decided to split the nationally recognized day into three seperate dates.

August 29th, September 26th, & October 24th are the listed dated for Record Store Day this year and each will have their own releases. For Green Light Music in Kalamazoo, they've set up safety measures to keep everyone safe while shopping:

For each Record Store Day Drop, the first 30 people in our socially distanced line are eligible to win prizes from our sponsors AND receive a RSD Drop poster! For RSD Drop Days specifically, we are limiting the number of customers in the store at one time to 10 people, and ask that you prioritize shopping for the RSD Drop exclusive merch that you hope to get, and that your browsing of the rest of the store remains intentional as a courtesy to the other folks waiting in line outside behind you.

For Satellite Records in the Vine neighborhood, the'll have over 80 different titles and will be open from 9 a.m until 8 p.m.:

There will be a limited number of people allowed in the store, so first come first served. Please wear a mask and be respectful of other people’s wait time. Hand sanitizer is required. Normal RSD rules apply meaning you can only buy one each of the RSD titles, but as many as you’d like - there’s over 80 to choose from!!! Absolutely no holds or orders over the phone.

Stay safe and good record hunting!
