The Sugar Bear in Paw Paw is well known within the community and easily a go-to place for a cold treat. Back in February, the infamous sugar bear stand up that welcomed customers was actually stolen. Luckily, thank's to the community it was returned. Sadly though, it seems that the sugar bear will be going into hibernation as Lafayette Creamery, a business well known in Texas Corners, has announced that they'll be taking over.

It was announced a few days ago that much work has been put into a 2nd location of Lafayette Creamery, and that The Sugar Bear would be no more. No official announcement has been made by The Sugar Bear from their Facebook page, however a Lafayette Creamery owner has already made the announcement on her personal page, saying:

I announce to my family and friends the opening of the 2nd Lafayette Creamery in Paw Paw! (Formerly Sugar Bear) Countless hours of preparation and sweat equity have been put into this new venture. We are excited to share this delicious homemade ice cream in this new location. Come take a drive and check us out! Opening day is Thursday, May 21! (101 W Michigan Ave, Paw Paw)

This is a crazy time to open a new business and I'm sure the people of Paw Paw will be upset with the closing of a business they've had a strong connection to. But times change and so do businesses. Lafayette Creamery in Texas Corners opened about 5 years ago and it has apparently done well enough to open a second location.
