Jane Clark from Portage, has been charged with embezzling $100,000 or more from local businesses.

Jane Clark worked for EMA Enterprises, a company that handles the accounts for several restaurants, has been arraigned on embezzlement charges.

"face up to 20 years in prison, and/or a fine of up to $50,000, or three times the amount embezzled, whichever is greater."

Jane had worked on accounts for successful restaurants like Michelle's (Gull Road) and Liz's Parkview Cafe (Richland). According to a Kalamazoo County deputy the charges include that Jane...

"allegedly wrote checks to herself for business expenses, office supplies and payroll that she was not entitled to over the six-year period from 2010 to May 2016"

Jane Clark turned herself into police after the warrant was issued for her arrest as well as informed her employer of the situation.

Personally, I would rather be broke, than in jail for stealing from others! Just my thought...
