Jack White Steps Up To The Plate For A Detroit Charity
Jack White will be playing baseball at the Hamtramck Stadium, and he bringing his own team
It is great when a celebrity has a passion for something and they use their fame for good. That is exactly what Jack White from the 'White Stripes' is doing today.
The Metro Times is reporting that...
White and his "Warstic Woodmen" will play a sandlot-style game at noon on Thursday, July 11. Admission to Hamtramck Stadium is free, and donations to the Friends of Historic Hamtramck Stadium will be accepted.
In the past, the musical front man and owner of 'Third Man Records' has shown support for the Friends of Historic Hamtramck Stadium, by donating $10,000 to the charity.
Having grown up loving the sport, Jack White has supported many groups trying to save old ball parks. In 2008, White donated nearly $170,00 to revamp Clark Park, the Southwest Detroit park where he played ball growing up.
A note to anyone planning on heading down to the game, the grandstand is under repair, fans are encouraged to bring water, sunscreen, and folding chairs.
(Hamtramck Stadium is located at 3201 Dan St., Hamtramck.)
