Help WMU Break Wedding Vow Renewal Record!
As it turns out, the MAC conference isn't competitive in just football and basketball. Wedding vow renewal gets the competitive juices flowing, too.
Yes, the football team is a big deal this year, but the crown jewel of homecoming weekend events may be this giant wedding vow renewal on Saturday, October 8th.
MLive says the current record holders are the dreaded Redhawks of Miami of Ohio, a fellow MAC school. Apparently they hold the record at 1087 couples willing to renew their vows. Well, that just isn't right. So Western will try and "strike gold" and set a new world record.
So you want to help set the new record? The ceremony will be on October 8th on the Grand Lawn of Heritage Hall. Mayor Bobby Hopewell will be officiating. You don't have to be Bronco alumni. There will be a Guinness person (the record book, not the beer) there. What's not to like?
You need to register by Friday, Sept. 30th. You can do that here.
Then, WMU's Alumni Relations office suggests Bronco gear, but I think a tasteful brown and gold tuxedo and/or white and gold wedding dress would be better. Sign in goes from 2:30 to 3:15 p.m. at Heritage Hall* The ceremony begins at 3:30 p.m. on Sat. October 8th.
One more thing. You have to show a copy of your marriage license to count for the world record. Here's how you can prove you're married.
