I had a few worries when I signed up for my first boxing class at Title Boxing Club661 Romence Road, Portage. Would I be able to finish the class? Not only that, but having not worked out on a regular basis for a few years, I felt unfit and embarrassed to even try.

That all changed the moment I walked through the door. I had no idea what to do, but the trainer at the front desk walked me through every step. She showed me how to wrap my hands and kept reassuring me that I could handle the 30-minute class.

She was right! I noticed right away that every age group and fitness level was represented in the class. In fact, Title Boxing Club welcomes everyone ages 8 and older of all abilities, so families with children even can work out together.

The class was hard and pushed me, but here is what I love: The trainer showed different styles of the workout, from high impact to low impact. She helped anyone in the class adjust the workout as needed so they could reach their personal goals. Everyone was challenged, even people who were very fit, but I always felt comfortable.

Every movement comes in timed intervals (which is nice because you know how much time you have left to perfect the move). I sweated, the music was fun, and it did not even feel like I was working out, just having a nice break in the day! When I left, I felt stronger, proud of myself — and in need of a shower. You can burn up to 1,000 calories an hour with their workouts!
