The media world throughout the state of Michigan and the country is mourning the loss of a wonderful, talented person today. Fox 2 Detroit's Jessica Starr passed away from suicide, as the news outlet reported this morning. Her co-worker Amy Andrews released the following statement on her Facebook:

Our hearts are broken... last night we were informed of the heartbreaking news that our friend and colleague, meteorologist Jessica Starr took her life. All of us here at Fox2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us. Her family and friends will be in our thoughts and prayers in the coming days as we all deal with our grief. If you or someone you know is hurting or just needs to talk, help is available 24/7 call the National Suicide Prevention Hotline at 1-800-273-TALK.

Fox2 also released a statement online stating:

All of us here at FOX 2 are in deep shock and cannot believe that such a wonderful, bright and intelligent individual will no longer be with us

Starr had been with Fox 2 Detroit since 2012. Rest In Peace.

Waking up everyday, entertaining and informing for a living is a very wonderful privilege. It can also come with a very high price. You're not aloud to have a "bad day" in this industry. You need to come in with a smile on your face, ready to entertain thousands of people. Just because we are in the public eye, doesn't make us any different from those of you who have 9-5 jobs that don't require you to have a light shined on you 24-7. The appreciation we have for the support and love we receive from you, our followers, will never stop being cherished or end. But please remember, we all suffer. We all have struggles. We all have bad days. Instead of using social media to tear us down when you disagree with what we say, try looking at it a different way. We are here for you. You are here for us. Let's try to be there for each other.
