Western Michigan has signed hockey coach Andy Murray to a new five year contract that will keep Murray behind the Broncos bench through the 2023-24 season.

Grand Forks Herald reporter Brad Schlossman tweeted the terms of the new deal. Murray will get a base salary of $230,000, plus an additional $110,000 in media/appearance fees. There are other bonuses written into the new pact.

Murray took over the WMU hockey program in 2011, after a long career coaching in the National Hockey League, with stops at Los Angeles and St. Louis. Murray has 333 career wins in the NHL. He has been at WMU for eight seasons, taking over for current Detroit Red Wing coach Jeff Blashill, when Blashill left to join the Wings organization.
