One of the hottest growing date night trends is finally coming to Kalamazoo, as Revel & Roll West on Stadium Dr. has hung up banners announcing that they'll soon be host to axe throwing. Now for those who aren't familiar and may seem a little worried, axe throwing is actually becoming quite huge, especially in Michigan. Kalamazoo seems to be the last major city on the west side to get in the game, as there are places to go axe throwing in Springfield, Plainwell, St. Joseph, and Grand Rapids, and BTLAXE in Battle Creek.

The announcement was teased on their Facebook in late May, with a short video saying that a new attraction was coming soon:

While running errands late last week, I stopped by and saw that they had hung banners making the official announcement:

As of now there is no official start date to when it'll be ready for reservations. Axe throwing has been a apart of the culture of woodsman for centuries, but the popularity grew from a guy from Toronto named Matt Wilson, who explained how the Backyard Axe Throwing League (BATL) began.

How Did Axe Throwing Become Popular?

We were just crushing beers at my friend’s cottage and were kind of bored. He pulled out a hatchet and taught me how to throw an axe. I just thought it was a lot of fun. I was like, ‘You know what? We should do like a little league.

Detroit was one of the first official sites for the league that opened up in 2018, after locations in Chicago and Nashville opened in 2017.
