2200 E. Cork St. Closed Til Dinner Time Due to Gas Leak

Kalamazoo Public Safety Officers and Consumers Energy employees are currently on the scene of a high pressure gas leak in the 2200 block of E. Cork.

At approx 1:42 p.m., Consumers Energy called for KDPS to assist with traffic.
All east and west Cork St. traffic in the area has been shut down, and residents at the Emerald Park Apartments are being evacuated.

There are no reported injuries at this time, but precautions are being taken while the gas line is being repaired. Closure for Cork St. is currently estimated to be at least two hours.
