Okay well this is just adorable...

Today we had our weekly visit from Katie Timber of the SPCA of SW Michigan. And to my absolute delight she brought along little Meeko. I love dogs and cats equally...but cats always seem to be drawn to me. I mean...look at this guy! All Katie had to do was point him my way and he immediately made himself comfortable and took a little nap on my lap.

Meeko is about a year old, is current on his shots and is available for adoption right now. As you can see, he's a cuddler and very friendly. He does well with other cats, dogs and people too and would make a fantastic addition to any home.

There are a lot of furry friends looking for their forever home all of which you can see right now on the SPCA's website. As well, if you're looking to adopt you should definitely stop by this weekend because it's the Bissel Pet Foundation's Empty the Shelters Event this Saturday (10/3) which means all adoption fees will be reduced to just $25. You can find all the information you need for this event here.

If you can't adopt that's okay! There are plenty of ways to help these animals find their forever homes. You can foster animals to help them socialize and get ready for their new homes. You can volunteer your time. Katie tells me that they're particularly in need of front desk and IT volunteers. Or you can donate both monetarily or donate needed items.

They're always in need of

  • New or gently used blankets
  • New or gently used towels
  • Bleach
  • Dish soap
  • All purpose, antibacterial cleaners
  • Hand sanitizer
  • Clumping Cat Litter
  • Pet toys
  • Cat and Dog food

You can find a full list of items needed here.
