Sam Adams Releases Beer That’s Illegal In 15 States
I remember a time that as a beer drinker, I would stick to 2 or 3 domestic beers, maybe an import from Canada. I just didn't have the taste for craft beer. Then one day my taste buds changed, and all of the sudden I was in love with IPA's. Since then I've actually stemmed out and try to enjoy as many different beers as possible. There are some pricey beers out there, which are totally worth the price. But $210 for one bottle? That's what Sam Adams has produced, and it's so potent that it's illegal in 15 states.
The beer, named Utopius, is illegal in 15 states because it has a ABV (alcohol by volume) level of 28%. Luckily for us in Michigan, it's not illegal to have or consume, which means they do ship to Michigan. However, Forbes reports the suggested retail price for the brew is $210 per bottle. So anyone wanting to dabble in on this crown jewel of beers is gonna have to invest. It contains Spalt Spalter, Hallertau Mittelfrueh, and Tettnang Tettnanger hops. All the details about the beer can be read here.
