Legendary hip-hop artist Rev Run of Run-D.M.C. gave Kalamazoo a show like they've never seen before, but that's not necessarily a good thing.

Was the crowd surprised that Rev Run started his show Saturday Night at the Kalamazoo Ribfest with "Smells Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana?  That would be an understatement.  In fact, he played a surprising amount of everything from grunge to classic rock mixed in with a little hip hop.

I have been a HUGE fan of Run-D.M.C. for most of my life.  I also loved his reality show Run's House.  With that said, Saturday Night was painful.  Unfortunately, Rev Run didn't really rap an entire song.  Not one!  He shouted an occasional lyric over each song the DJ played.  It was one of the stranger shows I've ever watched.

Then there was his personal security.  They tried to kick Townsquare Media staff out of the back stage area multiple times.  Important note: Kalamazoo Ribfest is a Townsquare Media event and the company that paid Rev Run.  The whole thing was strange.

Where you at the Rev Run show?  What did you think?
