According to a report on MLive, the City of Kalamazoo will be locating an employee health clinic at South Westnedge Ave. and Maple St., in what now houses the new Midtown Fresh Market and an Ace Hardware store. The new clinic is expected to be ready and open for patients in early 2020.

The reports says,

"The Kalamazoo City Commission approved spending $258,000 for a five-year lease at the location as part of its Monday, Oct. 7, consent agenda and is working with an architect on the space now."  - MLive

Previously, the City committed to spending over $2 Million dollars to create this centralized clinic for city employees and their family members, and retirees, rather than having those people go to outside clinics.

The property is part of a Brownfield redevelopment deal. It orginally started out as a Jewel-Osco grocery pharamacy store in the early 1970's. After Jewel pulled out of the Southwest Michigan market, it became a Harding's Marketplace.  In 2015, the property was redeveloped, and is now a  "Midtown Fresh" and an Ace Hardware store.
