It may be another sign of the old normal, or a positive sign, but either way, the City of Kalamazoo’s Spring Clean-Up and Brush Collection programs will start Monday, May 4.

The City says these curbside yard waste collection programs normally begin each year in April, but these programs had been suspended due to the impact of COVID-19 on waste hauling services.

Thus, the City says the Spring Clean-Up will begin on May 4th, with the sequence occuring on "the same day that was originally scheduled in April (e.g., 1st Monday). Collections scheduled for the 1st Friday in May will instead occur on the 1st Monday. The Brush Program will then start in June and offer monthly collections through October."

"Both programs accept brush, however the Spring Clean-Up also accepts residual fall leaves, which are not accepted as part of brush collection. Residents are encouraged to review what is accepted in each program to ensure their yard waste is collected. Schedules and additional information on the Spring Clean-Up and Brush programs are available at www.kalamazoocity.org/brush. Program information can also be found in the View from the Curb.
