The Kalamazoo Soup Kitchen has been forced to cancel Thanksgiving Dinner

It has been announced that God’s Kitchen of Michigan won’t serve a free Thanksgiving dinner at their Kalamazoo location due to lack of funding. This is heart breaking, Britannica.com describes Thanksgiving as the "time that we celebrate the harvest and other blessings of the past year". So many don't have the luxury of family, friends, shelter, a hot meal, or much to celebrate over the past. that's why the Thanksgiving meal at God’s Kitchen of Michigan was so important.

Rev. William Stein, co-founder and chairman of the non-profit, said in a statement to Mlive...

This is the first time in our eight-year history that God's Kitchen of Michigan has canceled a holiday event.

With Christmas right around the corner, the question has come up, will the soup kitchen be able to provide a Christmas meal? That question has yet to be answered, but some local business are stepping up to the plate and giving donations in hope of saving the program. If anyone else is interested in donating can make a tax-deductible donation by check or money order to God's Kitchen of Michigan, P.O. Box 2632, Kalamazoo, MI 49003.

The soup kitchen is temporarily shutting down after meals are served Wednesday, Nov. 20, until more funding is secured.
