Look At The Bright Side; Start of Fall Means Apple Cider
Yes, we get an extra couple of days of summer, but fall is inevitable. Not all bad, though. Because September means fresh squeezed Michigan apple cider.
I've been taking the kids to the cider mill since they were little. Now, they have cars and find a way to make it over by themselves. Yes, the cider is more expensive than ever. ($7 per gallon) But it's is good. And the accompanying doughnuts are a fine companion to the cider. A couple of places that well worth trying out is Ver Hage's out on ML Ave, west off of 8th St. and Gull Meadow Farms on Gull Rd. A quick internet search reveals plenty more within driving distance.
