As more time goes on the reality is that shopping malls are nowhere near what they used to be. You’re starting to see more and more malls shut down or reconfigured into modern-day shopping complexes because the shopping habits of the community have completely changed.

Since the introduction of Amazon, you have seen more online shopping, and if people do go out and decide to spend money many would rather spend it in places that are locally owned.

The Passing of a Landmark

Growing up on the east side of the state, Lakeside Mall in Sterling Heights was a staple hangout spot of the 90s and early 2000s. When they announced that they would be closing and tearing down most of them all to reconfigure it into an outdoor shopping complex, with a more open design, it sent a ripple through the community.

The reality is there are still a lot of balls left in Michigan, but how much time until their lifespan runs out and another corporate owner decides to tear it down? Or even worse how much longer do some of these malls have before the business ends up drying up? It’s not something we like to think about but here are some males you can still support in the state who will eventually be in fear, shutting down for good.

The last thing we want is for these staples of American society to go away forever. I just think they need to make their business model fit for the current lifestyle and the modern era. If they can reinvent the wheel, I don't think malls will go the way of the dinosaurs.
