Well, it's official people, we can now say it is snowing in Michigan. We always have a slight fear that in the Lower Peninsula, we are gonna see snow before November, which was the case for 2023, when West Michigan saw its first accumulating snowfall on Halloween, but in the Upper Peninsula, things get kicked off a little early.

That's the case for Marquette County as on Tuesday, October 16th they recorded their first accumulating snowfall according to Michigan Storm Chasers. The Yoopers are a different breed, as most of us down here would be freaking out and pissed, in the U.P., the early snowfall is welcomed in, probably because it means all the tourists or trolls will be leaving.

In the comment section, Yoopers are celebrating the first snow, as their prime season, winter, is about to begin:

My husband works at Kalitta in Oscoda and said when he came home at 1 am they had a pretty good snow shower at the airport.- Sandy

Although the accumulation was only .10 inches, it's still cause for celebration among the Yoopers:

So excited, great news. Can’t wait for some good accumulation this year. LET IT SNOW! -Travis

The snow even has some people in the Lower Peninsula excited for some:

Hey, weatherman when is it going to snow for me in the thumb? -Amanda

Although, I will have to agree with the person who responded to her saying, "No. We don’t need it right now." I'd have to agree, that it's a BIT too early for us, but I'm happy that it's almost time to bust out the snow shovels and winter hats.
