Since its existence, the FDA has worked tirelessly to keep us safe from food and drugs that may harm us. Most of their work involves pharmaceutical drugs and food products sold around the country. The people of America have expressed several pleas and concerns for the FDA to add guidelines to the operation of these companies.

So far, not much has been done to change manufacturing companies' policies, which means harmful products are still being made in America. The FDA does have a list of ingredients that are banned in America, and they recall any products found to have trace amounts of any of those substances.

We have seen recalls affect all parts of our lives, but some of the scariest are those in the food industry. Since we have to eat to survive, this can affect any of us at any time. A recall that was announced earlier this year has been updated.

Many of us spend time cooking at home for ourselves and our families as it can be an experience that cultivates love and bonds. We all have desired taste for certain dishes which brings about the use of spices and seasonings. There is a popular spice causing harm to people that may be in your pantry.

Way back in April, the FDA announced a recall for Ground Cinnamon due to elevated amounts of lead. At first, this list was only about 5-6 products long, that list has since doubled and there are now 11 Ground Cinnamond products on recall. Long-term exposure to elevated levels of lead could lead to adverse health problems in the future.

All cinnamon and ground cinnamon products from the following brands are on recall:

  • Asli
  • El Chilar
  • Marcum
  • SWAD
  • Supreme Tradition
  • Compania Indillor Orientale
  • ALB Flavor
  • Shahzada
  • Spice Class
  • La Frontera
  • Super Brand

If you have any of these brands and products from these brands in your home, pantry, cabinet, office or anywhere else discard them immediately. You can either return them to the store of purchase and receive a refund or just throw them away, either way, you should not consume them.
