This is the stuff you see on TV dramas. A murder case goes cold; a detective takes one last look and becomes determined to solve it, and an arrest takes place.

That's exactly what happened this week, when Michigan State Police officers flew to California to arrest Michael Leon Curry, charged with the death of Wanda Wilkinson in Bangor in 1986.

Wilkinson was found dead in her home by her daughter. Investigators began working the case at the time and developed several persons of interest, however, the case went cold. In 2010, detectives from the MSP began working the case again. Over the next several years, suspects were narrowed down by investigators.

Curry, now 51, was questioned in the aftermath of the murder, and even though he was never ruled out, the police didn't have enough evidence to charge him at the time. Through numerous interviews and with evidence, Curry was charged and arraigned on Monday.

Wilkinson's four surviving children worked with investigators throughout. They may finally get some sense of closure.
