Here's some good news. With so many events cancelled this year, here's one that's happening. The 2020 Vineyard Classic is set for Sunday, September 13th.

This is one of those good news, bad news situations, as the annual Paw Paw Wine and Harvest Festival for 2020 is cancelled, but since bicycling is an activity where social distancing is easy to accomplish, this event is still happening.

The Vineyard Classic is a bike tour! In fact, this is 39th annual. The tour starts Sunday morning (on September 13th) and there are several routes of varying lengths you can take. There's a 23 mile route, a 43 mile route and a really long one, that is 57 miles long. No matter the length, the routes take you past "lush vineyards and orchards at the peak of harvest season, you will find yourself enjoying the smell of fresh grapes." As you pedal through the greater Van Buren County, the courses take you through all sort of nature - woodlands, creeks, rivers and lakes - and some interesting villages

Organizers say,

"advanced registration is $20, with day of registration costing $30. Children under 12 will ride for free. Participants have the opportunity to choose between 3 different length routes (23 miles, 43 miles, or 57 miles.) Registration opens at the Van Buren County Human Services Building at 7:00 a.m. with the ride leaving between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m."

As an added inducement to join the event, organizers say La Cantina will be baking their traditional bike day cookies. “These cookies are an awesome tradition! We are happy to bake them for riders, and happy that this event can safely happen this year,”  says Emilio Dacoba, owner of La Cantina.
