The 'Purple Nurple Tour,' an epic trek planned across this great nation has been waylaid by COVID-19. Jack Black and Kyle Gass will not tour as Tenacious D in 2020.

Their mission was to change rock history, and then COVID-19 happened.  In March, Tenacious D announced 'The Purple Nurple Tour...Twisting Hard to the Left' aiming at ten cities across the country, promoting voter registration and "overall civic action through music." A show at Kalamazoo State Theatre was booked for September 27.

KST shared a special message from JB and KG on their Facebook page:

Dear D-sciples:

We are very sad to announce that - due to the ongoing status of COVID-19 - we have had to cancel "The Purple Nurple Tour...Twisting Hard To The Left!" We were looking forward to hitting so many of these great cities this Fall, but it's important to let health and safety lead the way at this time. All tickets can be refunded at the point of purchase.

The D loves you and hopes to see you soon,
JB & KG

The locations were chosen because of their political importance as swing states in national elections and The D has pledged "to help save the world from Trumpian destruction! With great rock comes great responsibility." Some, no doubt, will find great satisfaction in the fact that the entire tour has now been called off because of the pandemic.
