Two Michigan universities have erroneously sent out emails awarding scholarships to students. On January 4 2022 Oakland University sent an email in error to 5,500 students and Central Michigan University sent a similar email on January 26 to 58 students.

The Kalamazoo Promise is more than just a scholarship, its a pathway to success for some that otherwise wouldn't have that same chance.

There aren't too many things the Kalamazoo folks are prouder of than the Kalamazoo Promise. It's been a point of pride ever since it was announced some 15 years ago. And now the people in charge of it are taking it a step further and involving not only the community but also the region.

The Kalamazoo Promise has taken another step in making it "the gift that keeps on giving". The Kalamazoo Promise organization says it has "signed an agreement with the state’s largest skilled trades union - the Michigan Regional Council of Carpenters and Millwrights (MRCC) – to expand the Promise to include skilled trades apprenticeships with the MRCC’s Joint Apprenticeship Program."

The Kalamazoo Promise has unveiled a new slogan and logo as part a re-branding effort.

Kalamazoo is a city that takes some getting used to, and, let's face it; it's not for everyone. Here are five reasons why you should not move to Kalamazoo.
